By viewing this website you understand you will be introduced to an innovative energy-oriented healing and self-help technique based on the newly emerging field of energy psychology called Emotional Freedom Techniques or EFT. EFT seeks to address stressors and imbalances within a person’s energy system, as well as the energetic influence of thoughts, beliefs, and emotions on the body. The prevailing premise of EFT is that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system. It is believed that EFT helps clear these disruptions with a gentle tapping procedure, thereby restoring the flow and balance of the body’s electromagnetic and more subtle energies. It is thought that the flow and balance of the body’s electromagnetic and more subtle energies are important for physical, spiritual, and emotional health, and for fostering well-being.
Although EFT appears to have promising mental, spiritual, and physical benefits and there is a growing amount of scientific research indicating that EFT is an effective evidence-supported technique, especially for managing stress, EFT has yet to be fully researched by the Western academic, medical, and psychological communities. Therefore, EFT may be considered experimental and the extent of its effectiveness, as well as its risk and benefits, are not fully known. EFT is self-regulated and the State of Wisconsin does not license EFT practitioners and considers EFT to be an alternative or complementary healing method. Although Sherrie R. Smith is a retired nurse and a certified EFT practitioner, she is not a psychologist, psychotherapist, physician, or other licensed health care provider. You understand she provides her services solely as a Christian mentor and coach.
Any information presented on this website regarding EFT is not intended to represent that it is used to diagnose, cure, treat, or prevent any medical problem or psychological disorder nor is EFT intended as a substitute for seeking professional health care advice and services. You understand there is a distinction between “healing” using EFT and the practice of medicine, psychology, or any other licensed health care practice. You are advised to seek competent professional advice before making any decisions regarding your health care.
